Some consider Dia de los Muertos to be among the most vibrant in Latin America and in keeping with that tradition the performers for this event will be curated to give the audience an immersion of Latin American sights and sounds. The focus of this festival has been and will be to provide residents within the Greater Heights a fun and educational Dia de los Muertos experience. El Día de los Muertos, also known as All Soul’s Day, has roots in many Tumacácori Mission traditions including the customs of native residents, mission-era Jesuit and Franciscan priests, Spanish colonists, Mexican settlers, and even citizens of the United States. our main goal was to bring to focus a vibrant Latin American tradition that had been overlooked, or misunderstood as a “Spanish version of Halloween”. When we started Dia de los Muertos in the Heights 16 years ago. The festival will be held at Montie Beach Park on Octofrom 12:00pm - 8:00pm. The Montie Beach Civic Club is excited for the 16th Anniversary of Dia de los Muertos (“Day of the Dead”) in the Heights!
